Anthrax – energija ulice, brzina i jedinstveni duh thrash metala

Američki thrash metal bend Anthrax jedan je od najvažnijih i najoriginalnijih predstavnika metal scene osamdesetih godina. Osnovan 1981. godine u New Yorku, bend je od samog početka donosio drugačiju energiju u thrash metal – sirovu, brzu i često prožetu humorom i urbanim duhom, što ih je izdvajalo od mračnijih i ozbiljnijih savremenika.

Grupu su osnovali gitaristi Scott Ian i Dan Lilker, a kroz godine se formirala prepoznatljiva postava koju su obilježili vokal Joey Belladonna i bubnjar Charlie Benante. Anthrax je brzo stekao reputaciju zahvaljujući agresivnim rifovima, ritmički snažnim pjesmama i refrenima koji su bili podjednako energični i pamtljivi.

Albumi poput Among the Living, Spreading the Disease i Persistence of Time smatraju se ključnim izdanjima thrash metala. Tekstovi Anthraxa često su crpili inspiraciju iz pop-kulture, horor filmova, stripova i društvenih tema, čime su bendu dali jedinstven identitet unutar metal žanra.

The American thrash metal band Anthrax is one of the most important and original representatives of the 1980s metal scene. Formed in 1981 in New York City, the band brought a different kind of energy to thrash metal from the very beginning—raw, fast, and often infused with humor and an urban spirit, which set them apart from their darker and more serious contemporaries.

The group was founded by guitarists Scott Ian and Dan Lilker, and over the years a recognizable lineup emerged, highlighted by vocalist Joey Belladonna and drummer Charlie Benante. Anthrax quickly gained a reputation for aggressive riffs, rhythm-driven songs, and choruses that were both energetic and memorable.

Albums such as Among the Living, Spreading the Disease, and Persistence of Time are considered key releases in thrash metal. Anthrax’s lyrics often drew inspiration from pop culture, horror films, comic books, and social themes, giving the band a unique identity within the metal genre.
